The Mokelumne River
The nearest water feature to Mokelumne Hill is the Mokelumne River, approximately 3 miles north of Moke Hill on Highway 49. The river splits Calaveras and Amador Counties on the Highway 49 north corridor. Box Beach, located a few miles up Electra Road on the Amador County side, is a local favorite for a great place to hang out and escape the heat in summer months. The river is also a favorite of kayakers and rafters, and is where the local fire departments train for water rescue.
