When "Big" Earl Matthews was introduced to the blues at the age of 19, he knew he had found his niche. Earl's music is influenced by blues greats such as Junior Wells, Magic Slim and the Tear Drops, Howlin Wolf, and Big Mama Thornton. "The Cryin' Shame" consists of long-time Modesto musicians known for their original, simple, infectious grooves which when combined with Big Earl's soulful voice results in an innovative sound. Staying true to the mission of having a good time, this band provides a very positive, upbeat, energetic presence on stage that encourages involvement of the audience.
