The Avery Middle School Gifted and Talented Education Program held a “River of Words” literacy workshop in January. River of Words is an international watershed-themed art and poetry contest for kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Students who attended the classes learned about the watershed concept and practiced different poetry techniques. A sampling of the poetry submitted follows (see link):
