You are invited
to attend an interactive workshop hosted by the Local Government Commission and
local partners to visualize the water implications of different growth
strategies in Calaveras and Amador counties. The goal of the workshop is to
strengthen the connection between water and community planning. In addition, the event will provide an
opportunity for dialogue between local officials, agencies, organizations, and
community leaders to explore strategies for aligning water management and local
planning goals.
The workshop
will include innovative computer modeling and visualization to compare the outcomes
of different development patterns on water demand, sewers, roads, storm water
runoff, tax revenue, and open space. Using maps, pens and electronic key
polling pads, participants will explore different scenarios and strategies for
accommodating growth in the region.
The Regional
Water and Growth Visioning Workshop will be held onFriday, May 30, 2008 from 12:00-6:00pm at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall. The event
is free and made possible through a Proposition 40 Grant received by the Local
Government Commission through the California Water Boards.
