Design Review GuidelinesDesign Review Guidelines

The original Mokelumne Hill Community Plan called for development of Design Review Guidelines to regulate construction within the historic district and in other parts of the town. This draft document attempts to meet that goal. Communities enact design review to protect the historic nature of their properties, districts, and communities. Design Review guidelines identify the most important features of an historic district that should be respected, while refraining from dictating design outcomes. The guidelines also serve as an educational and planning tool for property owners and their design professionals who seek to make improvements that may affect historic resources. The advantages and restrictions placed on historic properties are discussed in the document. Come to the next Task Force meeting and help us refine these guidelines to meet the community's needs.
