There are two different methods for inserting images on this site. One is to insert them inline with the Picture module (next item, #14), the other is to use Image Assist.
Image AssistDirectly below the Body text area of the content types you will find a text link that says Add image. This is a link for Image Assist, an assistant built into the site that will allow you to upload images for use now – or later – as you build pages.
When you click the Add Image text link, a popup window opens allowing you to add images. If you have already uploaded images, they will appear on this screen in thumbnail form, allowing you to choose an image that has already been uploaded.
To upload images into your page / blog entry / etc:
Put your cursor at the beginning of the line where you would like the image to appear (you can set left or right alignment later).
Click the Upload button.
Image Assist screen 2In the screen that comes up next you will give your image a title and browse to the file you want to upload. Don't worry about all the other options on the page - you don't need to put it in a gallery. You can, however, add body text if you want the image to have a caption below it.
Important: make sure that you choose your group audience if you do not want the image to be available or visible to general site visitors. Otherwise just leave it public (default).
Click Submit.
On the next screen, click "start over" and you will see your image(s) listed. Click on the image you want to insert into your page.
You can see a preview on the left side, which will change as you add a title and description. In this window, both are optional. If you use a title and description, they will appear as a caption below your image. The title will be bold with the description following in plain text.
Size: Choose the size you want the image to appear on the page. Thumbnails are smallest, 300 pixel is (uh) 300 pixels max, and Preview images are 500 pixels max dimension.
Image Assist screen 3Alignment: do you want it to the left of your text, or to the right?
Link: do you want your image to be a clickable link? It can go to a separate URL or website, or can link to a popup window that will open with a larger version (good if you chose “thumbnail” above).
Click Insert
You’ll be returned to the content you were working on (blog entry, book page, etc). You’ll see the img_assist code inserted in the text wherever you had set your cursor.
That’s it, the image will appear in your page when you click submit!
