SAN ANDREAS - Starting Wednesday, San Andreas will have a weekly farmers market.
Look for it starting at 3:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Calaveras County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas.
Wednesday's event is the first such open-air produce market in San Andreas in at least 15 years and possibly much longer, said Kristine Louise, one of the market's managers.
Louise said she expects the market to have five vendors the first week.
Calaveras Farming Cooperative is running the market with sponsorship help from Calaveras Grown, an organization made up of a variety of county farmers and ranchers.
Louise said the market will run until mid-October, or possibly a little later in the year depending on demand and availability of produce. For more information, call (209) 754-4856.
