Gold Rush Ranch
Referendum campaign begins in Sutter Creek to stop massive Gold Rush Ranch subdivision
Preserve Historic Sutter Creek (PHSC) has officially launched a referendum campaign to reverse recent legislative actions taken by the Sutter Creek City Council to approve the Gold Rush Ranch golf course and subdivision development. The project would double the physical size of the town as well as its population, create gridlock on local roads, and destroy thousands of oak trees.
Preserve Historic Sutter Creek is a grassroots organization formed in 2008 to inform and educate the public about the problems associated with uncontrolled residential growth. This group's members are local residents who volunteer their time, energy, and passion to help shape the future of the town they love.
Starting last Saturday, PHSC members began going door-to-door to collect signatures to place a referendum on the ballot which will enable the citizens of Sutter Creek to voice their approval or disapproval of the Gold Rush Ranch Specific Plan. If they obtain enough signatures, the city council will have to reverse its approval of the specific plan or place the issue on the ballot.
If you have any questions about the referendum effort or Gold Rush Ranch, or would like to help, please call 209-559-3685 or see http://www.nogoldrush.com
