Sandra-Loree Hilderman, Artist (1946-2009)

Sandra-Loree “Sandy” Hilderman died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, of cancer. She was 63.

Born June 1, 1946, Mrs. Hilderman grew up in Stockton. She met her husband, Rick, in high school and they were married March 27, 1966. They had two daughters, Alicia and Sally, both of whom died of cystic fibrosis.
Mrs. Hilderman was an artist in many mediums, but her passion was oil painting. She had a private studio in Jackson for a number of years. Recently, she had been able to enjoy her own studio built on her property. She quickly filled her new studio with her works and collectables.

Mrs. Hilderman recently became aware of her biological father, whom she had never met. He passed away before her mother had told Mrs. Hilderman of his existence. She was overjoyed to connect with her Irish family on the East Coast.

Most importantly, Mrs. Hilderman never met a stranger. She touched everyone she met and all who knew her enjoyed her free spirit and caring ways.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall. There will be a chicken in the Barrel dinner and friends are asked to bring a salad or dessert.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras, P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642, or Calaveras Humane Society, P.O. Box 177, Vallecito, CA 95251.
